Your regional adoption agency for the Black Country, providing adoption services for City of Wolverhampton Council, Walsall Council, Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council and Sandwell Children’s Trust.

The service was formally launched on 1 April 2019 and formed teams to recruit adoptive parents for children needing adoptive families across the region, whilst ensuring they get the best possible support. The team are as passionate as ever about finding adoptive parents for children within the region and delivering the best support to children awaiting adoption and to all adopters starting their journey. Whilst the agency launched last year, the three Local Authorities and Children’s Trust have a long standing history of working together for 15 years – the agency previously came under the name Adoption in the Black Country (ABC) and worked successfully within this collaborative arrangement in recruiting adopters for children in need of adoptive families. Adopters come from all walks of life and all applications are welcome and will be treated equally. Virtual information events are held every two weeks and are the perfect opportunity for prospective adopters to find out more and have your questions answered.

Adoption Central England

ACE is the regional adoption agency for Coventry, Herefordshire, Solihull, Warwickshire and Worcestershire. ACE is committed to high standards of practice and provides a timely response to all enquiries about adoption.

ACE is ambitious to provide the best possible service to children, adoptive families and others affected by adoption. Adoption is considered for a range of children and good working relationships with the local authorities, ensures that year on year, more children are placed for adoption with ACE approved adopters. ACE knows that adoption can bring with it many rewards and challenges - to ensure the best possible outcomes for adoptive families, ACE offers adoption support services that can be in place from the first day that a child is placed for adoption. Working towards certification in dyadic developmental practice (DDP), the ACE Therapeutic Team offers specialist support to families. This is in addition to adoption family days, support groups, ongoing training, family mediation, the single adopter support group. ACE listens to the voice of both adoptive parents and children and values their contribution to service. ACE welcomes adoption enquiries from all sections of the community and is particularly keen to welcome enquiries from BAME communities as ACE has black and mixed race children waiting for families who reflect their racial and cultural backgrounds.

Adoption Focus specialises in adoption and we will give you all the help and support you need on your journey into parenthood and beyond. We are a dedicated and experienced adoption agency, consistently judged to be outstanding by inspectors over the last ten years. We recruit, prepare, assess and approve prospective adopters. As soon as they are approved, we work with Local Authorities from across the country to place children with them. Barnardo’s have been placing children with families for over 100 years, which means we have a lot of experience in matching children and adopters. We are the UK’s largest voluntary adoption agency and have the resources and expertise to give you all the support you need. Our Barnardo’s Adoption Midlands branch recruits adoptive applicants from across the Midlands. We are a friendly and experienced team and we have two office bases, one in Halesowen and the other in Derby. We recruit, assess, prepare and match adopters with children who need adoption, from across the UK. The service is committed to finding adopters for sibling groups, older children (over three), children from a BAME background and children with disabilities. However, we do place children under three too. We recognise the importance of building a supportive relationship of trust with the adoptive parents which sets the foundation for us to provide adoptive parents with knowledge and skills to enable them to deepen their understanding of their children, to support them and advocate on their behalf throughout their childhood. We are largest single adoption agency covering Birmingham and much of the West Midlands with the expertise and excellent support you need to grow your family through adoption.

We need adopters from all walks of life who will respect and promote their child’s ethnicity, culture and identity. When you adopt with us, we will always be here for you. We will offer you excellent life-long support so you and your children can count on us. Our comprehensive training is delivered by a team of experts including clinical psychologists who specialise in adoption, as well as our own adopters. This means that you will learn from people who have been in your shoes and really understand your situation. Our large network of adopters and support groups means that you will be able meet other adoptive families near you. We know that the adoption process can feel daunting so we try to make sure that you have the same social worker throughout your adoption journey, from stage one all the way until after your child joins your family to make sure that you feel as comfortable and as supported as possible. We are also the largest single adoption agency with the highest number of children in care. This means that when you adopt with us you have the best chance of finding a child that matches your family soon after you are approved to adopt.
