Agency Choice

We recommend that you choose more than one and consider more than one type of agency.  It is important that you feel comfortable with the agency as this will be a key relationship not only during the assessment process, but also if and when a child were placed with you for adoption.



Additional Information
You need to be over 21 years of age to be apply.

It is not necessary to have a spare room to start the adoption process, but most agencies expect you to have a spare room. If you are planning to move house, or carry out work on your home etc. It is often better to do this before starting the process.

You can adopt if you have other birth children. Typically birth children need to be 4 years or older to proceed with adoption. Their feelings and needs will need to be taking into account in the assessment process to make sure adoption works for everyone involved.
